Game Guide

1. Turns and Reserves
Turns are what allow you to do most things in VogelX. You need turns to hire, collect, bank and attack.
Every 10 minutes you will receive a certain amount of turns up to a maximum limit. If you have reached the maximum limit you will no longer receive more turns until you go below the limit.
You will also start the round with a number of reserve turns. These can be used at any time during the round. Check your diary for the reserve turns.
If you require more turns these can be purchased separately, in the form of credits, by clicking on the extra turns link in game.
2. Hiring
In order to succeed in this business world you will need to hire some operatives (“OPs”) to produce money and some defensive units (“DUs”) to protect you against other mischievous businessmen.
It is a matter for you to decide which are more important but remember one thing: the best businessmen here are the ones with the highest networth.
There are 2 types of OPs: when you order yourself a malt whisky at your private members bar you will come across some high flying lawyers looking to earn some extra cash for their kids' private education. These guys can argue themselves out of any awkward situation; they even know a few cops and judges who might bend some evidence in your favour. These guys can make you a fair amount of cash with bogus claims.
Alternatively, you may find yourself eating at that really expensive restaurant in your area, you know the one? It takes ages to reserve a table. Auditors love dining here and these guys dine with all the top clients advising them how to tweak their end of year accounts. Numbers go missing with these auditors and will probably appear on your bank balance. These guys will make you rich!
Make sure you don’t forget the secretaries, while they don’t directly make you money, without them, your OPs will be very unhappy.
Auditors and lawyers love a good drink too so make sure you quench their thirst. And one more thing, these guys get paranoid doing your dirty work so make sure you hire some boys to protect them too!
The 'boys' will look after you and your family and protect your firm. If you’re the aggressive type they may even 'knock out' a few competitors. You can pick up some hitmen at the same place you’ll find some lawyers. These guys certainly know how to kill and they'll look after you.
Every successful star needs protection and so do high-flying businessmen, security cameras and high fences only work so far. Hire some security guards and some dogs: they are cheap and will scare off most people.
Purchase some guns for these guys – what use is a security guard without a weapon? Guard dogs don’t need guns they have a loud bark!
3. Travel
As a highflying business executive you will need to travel the globe to invest your millions. The stock markets and the offshore tax havens will figure heavily in your itinerary.
There is only one way to travel in this World and this is by private jet (holds approx 100) or helicopter (holds approx 25 - big choppers). No transport, no travel. So, make sure you save some money for purchasing transport!
You start off in Geneva, a beautiful city in Switzerland with a very high quality of living. Geneva is an attack free zone (for the first day of the round), so you can chill out here all day and suck up the sites and clean air around you.
Maybe you are one for glamour, beautiful people, private yachts and lots of money. If so, head over to nearby Monaco and maybe stash some cash here too. Be careful though, you can only travel 4 times per hour.
Another nearby City, with regal splendour and one of the world’s leading business, financial and cultural centres – London. Why not try your luck on the stock market with the free stocks or purchase some more?
Shall we see how the Americans do it? Then travel a little further to New York another high powered business and financial metropolis, and invest more or have a flutter on the New York exchange.
Feeling like you should bank some of that new cash in your pocket or just need some rays – jet off to the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean! Maybe stash some cash too in one of their local banks...
Finally, if you still haven’t got your market buzz then Tokyo will certainly provide. Flashing lights and another stock market, it is the most populous metropolitan area in the World.
Always remember: you can only travel 4 times per hour and with no transport, you’re not going anywhere!
4. Banks
As business executives we know how to use banks and which to use better than anyone. Indeed we know that the best place to stash our earnings is offshore where tax is a lot lower.
In Geneva you can deposit 10% of your cash in hand in the Swiss vaults. This cash is safe throughout the game.
If you are in the Cayman Islands you can deposit 20% of your cash in hand. Interest is accrued at the rate of 10% per day at approximately 06:00 GMT*. The same goes for Monaco – these are offshore banks.
If you have no DUs your offshore bank account(s) depreciates by 10% per day.
If you are not in the correct location you cannot deposit your cash. You can withdraw your offshore account(s) cash at any location. Geneva cash can only be withdrawn in Geneva.
Any money banked offshore should be hidden...
* The interest will be added but it does not update on your screen until you carry out an action e.g. travel, hire, collect.
Transfers
Players can transfer cash from their offshore accounts to other players. To do this, the player simply enters the name, bank account, pin and amount he wants to receive. Each transfer (whether successful or not) uses 20 turns.
If a player does not set a pin for an offshore account no transfers can occur and any attempted transfers will be unsuccessful.
A player can simply change his pin(s) by setting a new one.
5. Stockmarket
Have you got the hang of this game yet, how about the stockmarket? Did you notice the free stocks you received when you first logged in?
If you stay in Geneva you'll never find out about the markets. Serious players in the businessworld will be found in London, New York or Tokyo. This is the place where dreams can be made and lost, so be careful.
There are five available stocks:
The prices are preset before the round starts by the Admins. Don't bother trying to predict the following round's prices, the Admins can amend these for each and every round before the round starts.
When purchasing, the total worth of your stock cannot be greater than half of your networth - see, we make sure you dont go completely in the red!
Stocks are purchased at their listed price and the prices are updated within approx 10mins. In simple terms, the price goes up when you buy and down when you sell. When you sell the stockmarket will take a 10% slice to cover its costs and the broker charges.
And one more thing, if you have a lot of workers you will fare better than your competitors!
We can only imagine how firms may control certain markets by inflating prices...
We should have said, if any of your money is remaining in the stockmarket at round end it will not be included in your networth for ranking purposes.
6. Attacks
The closest businessmen get to violence is ringside tickets at a top class boxing bout or a Friday night after a few too many glasses of champagne. Oh and maybe a slap or two from his mistress or wife for getting home too late.
Fortunately, you have a lot of money and can afford to pay for your protection.
Range
You can only attack players with 0.5 or up to 4 times your visible networth. If a player is out of range you cannot attack him/her.
Geneva
This city is generally a peaceful place and known as one of the most beautiful places in the World. This is why you can't attack in this location for the first 24 hours of the round.
Stay in Geneva if you want some protection.
Hitmen and Security Guards
Hitmen and security guard require weapons. The better the weapon the better the attack. Happy units produce better hits.
Attacks - guarded premises
You attack the other player’s own home and if successful you will steal his cash.
Attacks - firm
Silently enter his firm and empty a few rounds into your opposition and destroy his operatives.
Attacks - raid on airstrip
A successful attack here and you will steal some of his helicopters and private jets.
Attacks - raid on storage
A successful attack here and you will steal some of his narcotics and books.
Attacks - market exposure
Use this attack if you want to find the stock held by the opposition! An average attack and you will find out a random stock holding, a good attack, and all is revealed. Operatives are more important than Defensive units here.
How will I know if my hit will be successful?
You don’t until you try! But bear in mind 3 things; top players have strength in numbers, good weapons and happy units.
7. Happiness
Happiness is key to life, isn't it? When you're happy you tend to achieve more and work harder. This is the same for your employees in VogelX.
Hitmen
These guys need a weapon to 'hit', don't they? They also like a good drink or two and someone with a silver tongue to keep them out of trouble.
Security Guards
Similar to hitmen but they don't get themselves caught in the media, so no need for the men in flash suits to protect them.
Guard dogs
Chuck them some scraps!
Unhappy hitmen and security guards can only lead to disappointing protection.
Lawyers
After a hard day's work these guys need a drink with their trusty secretaries. They also like to play with the snow - snowball fighting of course!
Auditors
Similar to lawyers but these guys know how to handle technology they know how to use a laptop and a photocopier, so less need for 'college girls'
Secretaries
Working for successful lawyers and auditors who wine and dine them, what more could they want?
If you ask your auditors and lawyers to help get you some cash don't be surprised if they start drinking and inhaling a little more! Oh, and if you don't keep an eye on that consumption, some of them will get a little unhappy with you - they'll leave you never to return, perhaps, to an opposing business person who can look after their champagne diet!
8. Networth
Each of your operative and defensive units have a value. The shop items you have purchased also have a value: 75% of their purchase value with exception of weapons, which are worth 50% of their purchase value. These amounts are totaled together with your cash on hand to provide your networth.
If you have money in banks you will need to withdraw this for it to count towards your networth (don't forget about bank interest though!). Likewise, you will need to sell any units of stock you may hold for it to be attributed to your networth.
9. Prizes
If you add more than 100,001 credits to the game you will enter the supporter ranks for the round and can compete for the top cash prize! If you have a subscription (and do not add 100,001 or more credits) you will automatically enter the subscriber ranks and can win a cash prize.
Prizes are awarded to those players with the highest networth when the round ends. If you are lucky enough to win a prize, prize turns will be automatically transferred to your account for use in the subsequent round. Prize turns must be used during the round that you next sign in – if they are not used they are removed.
If you have won the cash prize we will contact you at your registered email to arrange payment. The final rankings will be published in the 'Past' tab in game within approximately one hour of that round ending.
10. Extra credits
If you want extra credits simply hit the "extra turns" link at the bottom of the page and make a purchase using the PayPal or Wallie secure servers. Once purchased these credits will be safely stored in your account and, unlike prize credits, which disappear at the end of a new round, purchased credits, will remain in your account until you choose to use them.
Secondly, you can obtain 100 credits each time you vote for the site - the voting links can be found on the first screen as you log in.
Thirdly, you can recommend or refer a friend to the game and if they register using the link that is sent to them you will receive 500 credits.
